Places To Visit in Udaipur City

I recently visited Udaipur and is one of the most beautiful and the luxurious city of India also known as Venice of India and the City Of Lakes. Here is a blog to let you know the places to visit in Udaipur.







ABOUT THE CITY


Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Mahrana Udaisingh as the final capital of Mewar kingdom. The journey started when Maharana Udaisingh II met an hermit while hunting in the foot hills of aravalli hills the hermit blessed the king and asked him to build a palace on the spot assuring him it would be well protected. 
     In 1568 the Mughal emperor Akbar captured the fort of Chittor and Udaisingh ji moved the capital to the site of his residence which became the city of Udaipur.

Now let us show you the must visit places in the city of Udaipur , so here we go.



1. City Palace



The Palace is situated on the eastern banks of Pichola lake and is a fusion of Rajasthani, European, Chinese and Mughal architecture built completely with marble and granite making it one of the most beautiful palace in India.


2.The Lake Palace 


  

Lake Palace is a former summer palace of the royal dynasty of mewar now turned into a hotel by TATA Group. The Lake Palace is located on the island of Jag Niwas in lake Pichola Udaipur and its natural foundation spans 4 acres.


3. Lake Pichola



It is one of the artificial lake that sights in the middle of udaipur city named after nearby village picholi, in 1363 AD lake pichola is one of the famous tourist attraction of the city.
Flanged by islands, Palaces, Tamples, Mansions, Ghats and restraunts.

4. Fatah sagar Lake



lying to the north west of Udaipur Fatah sagar lake is a sparkeling lake in the city is one of the major tourist spot surrounded by aravalli hills known for its scenic beauty.
You can also enjoy boating and sunset in evening.


5. Gulab bagh and Zoo



Gulab Bagh or Rose Garden is the largest garden of Udaipur known for its different variety of roses, spread across 100 acers of land. It was opened in 1881, since than it is a tourist attraction of the city with a zoo nearby for different species of animals.


6. Nehru Garden



Nehru Garden is a island garden in the middle of Fetah Sagar lake known for its different variety of birds, plants and trees. one need to take a boat for reaching there with Rs. 30 per person.


7. Monsoon Palace


Monsoon Palace also known as Sajjangarh Palace was build in 1884 by Maharaja Sajjan singh ji is also a tourist attraction in Udaipur. If you are interested in photography than this place is for you. It offers a awesome view of the city as well as of lakes.

8. Shilpgram


Shilpgram is situated 3 km west from Udaipur and is spread in the area of 70 acers of land. It is a government funded model of a typical rajasthani village with an objective of spreading awareness about art, culture, traditions of Rajasthan. If you wanna buy rajasthani jewellary or arts than this is the right place for you.


9. Cable Car


Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway located at machhala hills is amongs the top visited place by the devotees. The ropeway is installed between Deen Dayal park near lake pichola and Machhala hills near Karni Mata Temple.

10. Jagdish Temple


Jagdish Temple is a large Hindu temple in the middle of the city just outside the royal palace. It is one of the best architectural wonders of the Mewar Dynasty, the temple is build keeping in view the rules of Vastushastra, the Hindu architectural science.

11. Kumbhalgarh Fort 


I had one day left so i visited the Kumbhalgarh Fort by cab, it is 85 km away from Udaipur city. It is a world heritage site  included in Hills Forts of Rajasthan, built at the time of Maharana Kumbha of Mewar Dynasty in 15th century.
The main attraction of the palace is the Sound and Light show in evening for which many tourist visits the fort.
